Located in central Europe, having neighbors eight countries, also high tourism coutries. Austria became a place of transit between cultural and economic centers of the continent.
 
Most of Austria is dominated by the Alps and Prealp heights, glaciers or mountains which still bear traces of the Ice Age. Lakes have clean water, landscapes are impressive, showing the care with which the Austrians understand nature.

Being located in the Alps, western and southern Austria is a famous winter sports destination.
 
The highest mountain is the Grossglockner, with 3798 m. The north and east of the country are mostly hills. The climate is temperate, with cold winters and cool summers. The main capital cities are situated on the Danube Vienna, and Salzburg, Innsbruck, Graz and Linz.
