Cyprus tourist information

Cyprus is a country unique in term of "life" of the sun on the island. For 300 days a year you can enjoy sunny days and you can admire the beautiful and varied landscapes. We list here a few of the most important tourist destinations not to be missed if you go to Cyprus.

"The Greek's Rock" or "Petra tu Romiu" is the most famous rock in Cyprus. It is situated on the southern coast of the country, west of Limassol. According to legend, it is said that Aphrodite was born here coming from the sea. Besides "The Greek's Rock" the Baths of Aphrodite located near Polis along with the Cyprus Museum, the Ethnographic Museum and the Museum of Byzantine art are other locations to be visited.

Vaccinations: not required.

Customs: For private travel in the EU can be carried unlimited supply of goods for personal use. Its allowed in or out of the country an amount equivalent to 10.000 euro.

Warning! If entering the country is made by the north, access is denied in the southern part of Cyprus. Conversely, in the south to the north.  Access is allowed only by a few points.

Currency and means of payment: 1 euro = 100 cents. There are ATMs and travelers' checks can be exchanged at banks or hotels that accept major credit cards.

Transportation: The road network is well built and set up. The cities are linked by highways, and buses are very important because there are no trains. There are weekly ferries leaving from Athens to Limassol. International Airports are: Pafos (Paphos) and Larnaca.

For drivers: It's enough to have on you your driving license and car registration document. It's recommended that you have a green card insurance. The speed limit is 50 km / h in towns, 80 km / h outside towns and 100 km / h on highways. Alcohol limit is 0.5. Traffic travels on the left side of the road.

Accommodation: There are means of accomodation for all pockets. From campgrounds and resorts to student hostels and hotels as well as apartments in holiday homes.

The best time to visit: Cyprus may be visited anytime, but July and August are hot, and from December to February are heavy rains.
